Write here, write now

There are so many great resources out there in the www, maybe too many. As a teacher, I spend a lot of my time researching, gathering, harvesting, reading and then writing lesson plans. As a writer, I spend even more time learning more about the craft.

Here are a few great links
Inis Magazine
The New York Times series of writing lessons, starting with the basics and leading to more advanced techniques.

The Chronicle articles on editing and grammar.

Cool verbs, my favourites are - micawber, pule and tyro.

More cool verbs.

Homophones - words that sound alike but are spelt differently with different meaning.

Punctuation marks?!! Use them, don't abuse them.

Oh and look at the lovely magazine I got in the post today. I love everything about Inis Magazine.

Don't cha....

Don't cha just love touchscreen technology. The way it peppers your prose with delightful little typos, words with a different meaning and leaving you look like a multi-tasking typo queen?!

And don't even get me started on the blogger layout for the iPad, I mean I have to use HTML to format the posts.

But to give technology its dues....s'all right!

That is all, class dismissed/rant over!

Little Pages for Little Readers

Gráinne Clear presents Little Pages and it is a gem of a radio show on RTÉ. It's aimed for little readers but the questions and insights intrigue the older listeners also.

The show is broadcast on Sunday mornings at 9am, nothing like a coffee and a good aould listen. Little Pages is repeated on Fridays at 4pm.

The podcasts are all available here for download.

Now in case you haven't guessed it, I'll tell you again; I'm a Celine Kiernan fan. There is a great podcast with Celine Kiernan's Into The Grey on Little Pages. Be warned Celine reads an extremely scary extract from her book!

Right, I'm off to listen to a few more podcasts. Thanks for stopping by.
